Labor shortages incentivize new hiring process for Home Depot

Home Depot is launching a new “accelerated hiring process” to help curb labor shortages.

The home improvement retailer’s effort to expedite hiring processes comes after 4.3 million people, or nearly 3% of the U.S. job force, left their jobs in December, down from around 4.5 million in November. The numbers are well above pre-pandemic monthly levels of around 3.6 million.

Home Depot will host a virtual hiring event on Feb. 16 in which applicants “could receive an offer within one day of applying.”

“In today’s climate, jobseekers are shopping for the best opportunity,” Eric Schelling, Home Depot’s vice president of global talent acquisition, said.
