Kinzinger calls for Republicans in ‘America First Caucus’ to be stripped of their committee assignments

Republican Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger called for those who join the “America First Caucus” touting “uniquely Anglo-Saxon political traditions” to be stripped of their committee assignments.

Reports of the caucus proposal and its policy draft emerged Friday. GOP Reps. Paul Gosar and Marjorie Taylor Greene are expected to lead it.

“I believe anyone that joins this caucus should have their committees stripped, and the Republican conference should expel them from conference participation. While we can’t prevent someone from calling themselves Republican, we can loudly say they don’t belong to us,” Kinzinger tweeted.

A policy draft of the “America First Caucus” indicated opposition to mass immigration and a defense of classical architectural features of Roman aqueducts and roads.

Kinzinger, a critic of former President Donald Trump who voted to impeach him in January, laid out a number of other criticisms of the caucus, dubbing it a “white supremacy caucus.”

The lawmaker criticized Rep. Matt Gaetz for his praise of the caucus.

In addition to being 1 of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, Kinzinger is among 11 House Republicans who supported stripping Greene of her committee assignments after it was revealed that she shared online content that insinuated using violence against Democrats.
