An Indonesian court changed course on Monday and sentenced a school principal to death for raping at least 13 of his students.

Herry Wirawan, a former principal of an Islamic boarding school for girls in the city of Bandung, was handed the death penalty by the Bandung High Court, overruling a lower court’s sentence of life in prison, according to Reuters.

Prosecutors who sought to have Wirawan sentenced to death and chemical castration appealed the Bandung District Court ruling.
