Pins That Condescend to Foreign Countries Removed from Hillary Campaign Shop

The same day the Hillary Clinton campaign store introduced a new collection of pins designed by various artists and graphic designers, The Forty-Five Pin Project, the collection is already one short. Within hours of listing the collection Thursday, the pins designated by Polish artist Agniezka Gasparska were withdrawn.

Gasparska’s offerings included five different pins, each making reference to Hillary Clinton potentially becoming the first female president in U.S. history. One simply read, “It’s about damn time.” The other four referred to countries that currently have female presidents, and each pin used the format, “Even [name of country] has one.” The following is how the pins appeared on the site before deletion (the image is still available here.)

The Gasparska set was one of the first listed on the site, directly following a $100 offer to buy a pin from each of the 45 sets (now 44). A cached version of the page is here as well as pictured below:

After the Gasparska set was removed, the order of the remaining offerings was shuffled, and now only the full set and the forty-four remaining artist collections are listed. The “It’s about damn time” pin is still visible in the full-set offer, but is not listed for sale individually.

Neither the Clinton campaign nor the artist responded to requests for comment or explanation.
