‘Wakie’ app allows strangers to wake up one another in the morning

Talk about an alarming wake-up call.

A new app for Android and Windows Phone appropriately named “Wakie” allows users to give anonymous wake-up calls to one another.

The app’s users are divided into two groups, “sleepyheads” and “wakies,” the first consisting of those who have difficulty dragging themselves out of bed and the second of those who wish to do the waking, Gizmodo reports.

According to The Next Web, the app requires individuals to enter their phone number and matches users of similar ages and opposite genders. So, it’s like a Tinder-inspired wake-up call, if you will.

“Wakie is a fun, friendly community of people who wake each other up in the morning,” reads the app’s webpage. “It’s a brand new way to wake up, made especially for those of us who hate the jarring noise of an alarm clock. When you use Wakie, you get to start your day with a smile instead of a frown!”

The app currently boasts over 1.5 million users worldwide and users have made 30 million wake-up calls.

Wakie is actually the international version of the similar app Budist for Russian users.
