Remember the BP oil spill? Neither do we. One thing Stanley McChrystal did for President Obama was steal focus from the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, now in it’s 70th day of oily badness.
A recent Rasmussen Reports survey, taken after Obama’s address to the nation, found 46 percent displeased with the president’s handling of the spill — a 12 percentage point increase over the previous week. Much like health care, the more he talks about it the less people like it?
But there was some good news in polling for Obama last week — Rasmussen also found 47 percent approved of Obama’s decision to (effectively) fire McChrystal, to 36 percent who disapproved.
Still, the administration hasn’t forgotten about the Gulf Coast — on Tuesday, Vice President Biden will pay a visit.
