Priebus: Our values are ‘under assault’ with Clinton

CLEVELAND — Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus told delegates at his party’s national convention that values the GOP holds dear will “officially be under assault” if Hillary Clinton becomes president.

“It is clear the Republican Party is the only party willing to fight for these values and lead America to greatness in the 21st century,” Priebus stated after speaking of courage, freedom, equality and strength, while talking to delegates on the final night of the GOP convention.

He added, “Just compare what we stand for versus the Democrats. Democrats aren’t budging from ancient liberal policies, which put Washington in charge. They’ve been following the same dusty, tax and spend blueprint for decades. We are the party of new ideas in a world changing faster than ever.”

The Republican Party chair went on to lay out what he saw as the failures of the Democratic Party, including their “rigged” superdelegate system, their reliance on labor unions at the expense of schools and the failures of Obamacare.

Priebus condemned the presumptive Democratic nominee’s foreign policy record and history of scandal, saying, “Hillary Clinton has perfected the art of politics for personal gain.”

Although Priebus was once hesitant to support the current Republican nominee, he said he believes that Trump will help America negotiate strong trade deals, help working families get a raise, fight the Islamic State, protect the Second Amendment and fight abortion.

“So I have a message to America: hold on. Help is coming. With Donald Trump and Mike Pence,” Priebus told voters. “America is ready for a comeback after almost a decade of Clinton-Obama failures.”
