‘Teflon defendant’ indicted on gun, drug charges

A federal grand jury has indicted Corey A. Moore on drug and weapons charges after a September cocaine and PCP bust in Takoma Park.

Moore earned the moniker the “Teflon defendant” when prosecutors couldn’t make a murder accusation in a 1994 D.C. slaying stick. The charge was dropped after four mistrials.

The new indictment charges Moore with possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, possession of firearms in a drug-trafficking crime, and being a felon in possession of guns and ammunition.

Takoma Park police said Moore was arrested in September after he allegedly threw a bottle of alcohol at an officer while carrying $50,000 of cocaine. A gallon of PCP was found in his home, police said. Moore also possessed several weapons and ammunition, the indictment says.

Moore is in custody pending an initial appearance in federal court in Greenbelt.
