Another weekend, another set of Metro delays for track work.
The transit agency will be shutting down service on part of the Blue Line and single tracking along the Red Line in two spots. As usual, the work begins at 10 p.m. Friday and lasts through the weekend.
BLUE LINE: The Arlington Cemetery station will be closed so Metro can replace some wooden rail ties that lie under the metal rails.
That means people cannot use a Metro train to visit Arlington Cemetery this weekend.
A free shuttle bus will take riders there instead from Rosslyn or Pentagon stations, and link Blue Line riders passing through. Those Blue Line riders may want to consider switching to a Yellow Line train, then transferring back to the Blue Line at L’Enfant Plaza. Metro recommends riders add 15 minutes to their travel plans.
RED LINE: Riders passing through the following areas should add 20 minutes to their trips as trains will be sharing a single track between:
- Forest Glen and Takoma
- Van Ness and Farragut North
