Actress Patricia Arquette shared a message on social media asking the American people to participate in a one-day “economic shutdown” to send a message to President Trump.

“It’s easy. DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY ON ANYTHING ANYWHERE,” the Instagram post said in calling for a boycott on March 2.

The 51-year-old actress shared the message with her nearly 150,000 followers, saying the goal of the shutdown is to create a $238 billion dip in the U.S. economy. The post also contained #RESIST, a reference to the “resistance” movement opposing Trump.

As Trump seeks reelection, he has often touted a strong economy in making his case to voters. That argument took a hit last week as the stock market plunged due to fears about the breakout of the new coronavirus. The spread of the infection has caused the stock market to suffer its worst week since the 2008 financial crisis. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped nearly 4% at its close on Friday, and the S&P 500 dropped more than 3%.

Trump and his allies have spent recent weeks defending the free enterprise system in response to the ascension of Sen. Bernie Sanders, a socialist, in the Democratic presidential primary contest.

Arquette previously criticized Trump on social media for his alleged extramarital affairs, which he has denied.
