Nebraska GOP Sen. Ben Sasse quipped Thursday that photos taken of him and New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer outside the Capitol make it look they are “smoking reefer outside a wedding.”
Schumer responded to Sasse on Twitter: “Well that escalated quickly.”
It began Thursday when a reporter for CNN posted several Getty Images photos on Twitter of senators casually talking outside Senate buildings.
Sasse is wearing workout clothes, as is Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn. Arkansas GOP Sen. Tom Cotton and Arizona GOP Sen. John McCain are wearing suits. Schumer is tie-less and holding a cup of coffee.
