$432 million winning Mega Millions ticket sold at Manhattan pizzeria

A winning Mega Millions ticket for $432 million was purchased at a New York City pizzeria.

Pronto Pizza on 48th Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan sold the winning ticket, lottery officials said. The ticket matched all six numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing, which were 36, 41, 45, 51, 56, and the Mega Ball number was 13.

“I’m happy for this person. With the pandemic and everything, probably they need it,” said the owner of Pronto Pizza, David Khirala, adding that he hoped it “came at the right time for this person.”

“Who knows if they have credit cards bills, kids to go to school … you never know,” he continued.

The winner will get to decide whether to receive their payment in increments spread out over years or take the lump sum, which is $315 million. The odds of winning are 1 in 302 million, and a ticket price is $2, according to the New York Lottery’s website.

“Choose five numbers from 1 to 70 and one number from 1 to 25 for your Mega Ball. To win the Mega Millions jackpot, match the six numbers on your ticket to the drawn six-number combination (five numbers plus the Mega Ball),” the website stated.

New York does not allow for winners of amounts this large to stay anonymous, but in 2019, a group of 23 winners collected their $437 million prize anonymously using an LLC, circumnavigating the rule, according to a report.
