Third quarter review

Score: Lions 13, Redskins 7

Second quarter review | First quarter review

…Great response by the Redskins’ offense and Jason Campbell in particular. Nice throw to Santana Moss – he’s finding the playmakers. But it helped that Clinton Portis gained 13 yards on the first and 15. The ability to run set up the play-action out of I-formation.

…Redskins caught a break when Calvin Johnson was flagged for a pass interference against LaRon Landry. He didn’t need to push off and it was only slight, but it was enough to be a penalty. Can’t do that in the wide open.

…Not sure what went wrong on the blitz other than no one saw the linebacker coming. A nice defensive call. Stephon Heyer blocked down when the end slanted that way. Guessing he has to do a better job of seeing what is going on. But Campbell also forced that pass to Moss.

…Great job by the defense. Brian Orakpo got a one-on-one and made it look easy, with speed. The tackle had no chance. Good dip of the shoulder, too.

…Albert Haynesworth played two snaps in the third quarter and applied pressure on both. He rushed from end on his second snap.

…The Redskins used a lot more I-formation in the third quarter, except for obvious passing downs.
