Transgender activists are trying to bully the NCAA into conformity

Transgender activists rely on silencing their opponents to push for unpopular and unscientific reforms. When they can’t get what they want that way, they turn to bullying. This is what they are trying to do now to the NCAA.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and Athlete Ally are trying to pressure the NCAA into launching a boycott against states that have passed laws preventing biological men from competing in women’s sports. GLAAD and Athlete Ally have helped circulate a letter that Sports Illustrated boasts has been signed by nearly 550 college athletes, which is about 0.1% of the 480,000 athletes in the NCAA.

Those few athletes that have signed the letter contend that states that protect women’s sports from unfair male competition should not be selected to host NCAA championships or events. This comes less than a year after the American Civil Liberties Union started this campaign, attempting to get the NCAA to pull scheduled March Madness games that were set for Idaho (all March Madness games were later moved to Indiana due to the coronavirus).

Preventing biological men from competing in women’s sports is popular across gender, political affiliation, and age spectrums. The science is clear that biological men have natural advantages in strength, speed, muscle volume, and bone mass. Even the lowest natural level of testosterone typically found in men is four times higher than the highest level found in women.

That is why groups such as GLAAD and the ACLU are trying to launch a pressure campaign against the NCAA. The public is not on their side, as anyone not being obtuse must admit there is a natural difference between, for example, men’s and women’s college basketball. Or track — all 23 men who competed in the 100-meter sprint at NCAA’s 2019 outdoor championship finished with a faster time than the fastest woman, who broke the all-time NCAA women’s record.

Bullying is the modus operandi of transgender activists, most recently seen when Amazon banned Ryan T. Anderson’s book about transgender issues. Disney also recently found an excuse to fire actress Gina Carano, who had earned the wrath of transgender activists by making a joke about pronouns.

Transgender activists hope to bludgeon the NCAA into complying with their contradiction-filled gender ideology, destroying the integrity of women’s sports and putting many female athletes at increased risk of injury. In doing so, they hope their heavy-handed tactics silence all opposition and chill the expression of opposing opinions. The NCAA should treat them as the obnoxiously loud minority that they are and ignore their demands.
