The Montgomery County Council has appointed Edward L. Blansitt III as the county’s new inspector general following the resignation of Thomas Dagley after six years on the job.

Blansitt, an accountant and government financial manager, will earn $140,000 as the county’s third inspector general since the post was created in 1997.

The County Council voted unanimously for Blansitt to take the job.

Blansitt has worked at the federal level for 40 years in various jobs including inspector general for audits at the Department of Commerce and acting deputy inspector general at the U.S. National Science Foundation.
