Tired of getting ripped off by overpriced tickets?

Ever gone to a sporting event expecting awesome seats because you paid an arm-and-a-leg and studied the seating chart like it was a cheat-sheet for the SATs? Only to feel like punching the usher when you’re escorted to your extremely disappointing, who-would-pay-this-much-for-these??? seats.

Well, a new, D.C.-based nonprofit started Monday is trying to get your back. Fans First is a coalition of fans, hometown theaters, artists, sports teams and prominent voices in entertainment who are trying to protect fans from fraudulent and unscrupulous ticket practices.

Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5, noted in a press release, “We need to make sure that fans get the tickets, and not scalpers.” (Sound familiar, Redskins fans??)

“Fans First is fighting to do just that,” Levine continued. “Our band wants our tickets to be sold at the face value that we set, so that the real fans can get the tickets — not scalpers.”

Members include: Live Nation Entertainment; the Carolina Panthers (NFL); JAM Productions; Red Light Management; the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL); Verizon Arena (Ark.); Ticketmaster; Durham Performing Arts Center (N.C.); Target Center (Minn.); The Recording Academy; and more than 30 recording artists ranging from Anthrax to Kenny G and from Maroon 5 to Megadeth.
