The president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, told CBS Tuesday morning that despite violent protests throughout Baltimore, the group has not lost track of the bigger picture and will continue to “push for a fair, transparent investigation” in the death of Freddie Gray.
However, violence is not the answer in pushing for this, as well as police accountability, NAACP President Cornell Williams Brooks said.
“There is much to be done that we have to pursue with vigor … This problem won’t be solved with Molotov cocktails. Burning businesses and homes and buildings in your own community is like putting a gun to your own head,” he added.
Rioting or looting is not constructive action, Brooks said.
