Parents, Iowa Educators Corporation settle school lunch class action

Published

ADEL, Iowa (Legal Newsline) – Parents and IEC-member schools have reached a settlement in a class action lawsuit claiming the defendants conspired to restrain competition in the market for the retail sale of food at schools in Iowa and that Martin Brothers attempted to monopolize the market in violation of Iowa antitrust laws.

Parents who purhcased lunch at IEC-member schools between Jan. 1, 2000, and Aug. 1, may be eligible to receive $3.50 per student, per year, up to a maximum of $50 per student, according to the settlement documents filed Aug. 1 in the Iowa District Court of Dallas County.
