Vice President Joe Biden told President Trump to “shut up” in a heated moment during Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

“Will you shut up, man?” Biden asked of the president after Trump repeatedly interrupted him during the early exchanges of the debate. The president was pressing the former vice president to answer a question about whether he would support increasing the number of seats on the Supreme Court.

“Whatever the position I take on that, that will be the issue,” Biden said, explicitly refusing to answer the question. “The issue is the American people should speak. You should go out and vote. You are in voting now. Vote and let your senators know how strongly you feel. Vote now. Make sure you, in fact, let people know.”

The president then pressed him to answer the question, asking, “Are you going to pack the court?”

When Biden refused, and Trump proceeded to push him once more, Biden quipped that the president should “shut up.”

Chris Wallace, the moderator, then ended the segment and pivoted to the next debate topic.
