Reality show to chronicle the lives of D.C. strippers

Is D.C. finally going to get the reality TV show it deserves? After lukewarm seasons of “The Real World,” “Top Chef” and “Real Housewives of DC,” the cameras will once again turn on Washington in the form of “Strip Club Queens.”

The show centers on the lives of five strippers and one waitress from Stadium, a pricey strip club in Northeast with $40 steaks, a strict dress code, and, according to one Yelp reviewer, dancers who “don’t have bullet wounds or scar tissue.” The show’s creator, Delmond Newton, told The Root DC that the show will focus on the lives of the women outside of the club — one of them is trying to open a salon, another supports her family in a trailer park. “You’re not going to see a bunch of fighting,” Newton promised.

“Strip Club Queens” began filming in the spring and will continue through August. No word yet on when the show will air.
