Texas senator Ted Cruz took to the Senate floor to speak out against President Obama’s executive amnesty. He did so today by quoting at length from Cicero:
“Sen. Cruz just gave a speech on the Senate floor,” says a Cruz aide in an email, “adapting Cicero’s famous speech against the Cataline conspiracy (given in 65 B.C.) to what we are facing today under President Obama, in terms of his efforts to implement executive amnesty. The speech he is giving on the floor is almost verbatim to how it was given almost 2200 years ago. It is incredible how accurately this narrative applies to today — the President once said he could not take such action on immigration because he was not an emperor, yet today is is acting just as such.”
