Johnson put Brighthart’s head in a toilet. Brighthart begged Evans for help, and pleaded that his children not be left fatherless.
Johnson took out a .38-caliber handgun and shot Brighthart once, police said. Evans walked away and heard more shots.
Two-alarm fire closes Georgetown restaurants
Two popular seafood restaurants in Georgetown were damaged in a lunchtime blaze, D.C. fire officials said.
Fire officials said they got a call for a commercial fire in the 3200 block of M Street NW around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. There was heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof of Hook and Tackle Box restaurants, said D.C. fire spokesman Pete Piringer. The bulk of the fire was knocked down within 15 minutes. No one was injured.
The restaurants suffered significant damage and will be closed for several days, Piringer said.
