Despite the fact that Jon Stewart may have called President Obama the d-word on Wednesday’s “Daily Show,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs assured the public Thursday that “dude” has no official meaning.
When an environmental activist from New Jersey jokingly asked Gibbs via Twitter if “dude” was the president’s new Secret Service nickname, the press secretary actually responded.
“I can tell you that the president’s Secret Service code word is the same that it has been since he got Secret Service protection in 2007, and it’s Renegade,” Gibbs said, making no reference to his boss’ television appearance nor the fact that some commentators had found Stewart’s use of the d-word disrespectful.
On Thursday, Gibbs introduced a new way to reach out to the public by answering questions submitted on Twitter and then posting his video responses to the Web. While Gibbs did answer the “dude” question, he did not laugh.
