Super Bowl 42 Could give FOX the best ever SB Rating ever!

There are a staggering number of media credentials that have been issued for Super Bowl 42 this week. Nearly 5,000 press credentials have been handed out by the NFL setting an all time record for press coverage of a single Super Bowl.

Also record breaking ticket sales setting a spending high water mark for the top ticket exchange Stub Hub. The popular site has sold more tickets for SuperBowl 42 than anything.

FOX is expecting record ratings for the game that and that is music to the ears of all the sponsors that spent an average $2 million dollars a spot.

It does not hurt that the Pats are 18-0 are looking to add a fourth Super Bowl trophy to their case along with the title as the “Greatest Team of All Time.”

There is not a sports media outlet that isn’t represented in
Phoenix
there is plenty of local people on the ground.

Baltimore radio stations are on site at “Radio Row,” with kudos going to WNST 1570AM who has been doing more live programming than any of their bigger rivals.

ESPN 1300AM has plenty of representatives at the Super Bowl with Mark Viviano getting plenty of guests and the Anita Marks Show coming live from “Radio Row.”

WBAL 1090AM sports director Steve Davis is still in
Baltimore
however he has plenty of help from local reporters and guests from Phoenix .

Meanwhile the Washington sports talkers are fully represented with all the local shows having some Super Bowl on site presence.

Sports Talk 980AM WTEM has the game covered with troops in all along radio row as does Triple X ESPN. CSN has Kelli Johnson and CN8 has the “Out of Bounds,” gang all looking at the game from a local point.

Sirius has one of my favorite Super Bowl highlights and a natural for Washington with the game being offered in over 8 languages on 12 channels.

It should come as no surprise that the NFL Network and ESPN are leading the way in hours covering the lead up to kick off. A record 213 hours of pre game coverage is being done by the NFL Network with coverage of everything from media day to the replaying of every Super Bowl ever played. They will have a special playing of 1972 game where the Dolphins beat the Redskins to complete their perfect season at 8:30a.m. Super Bowl Sunday.

As expected the ESPN family of networks will have shows from Phoenix with all their major radio and TV programs on site. Sunday will have 11a.m. NFL Game Day and the entire ESPN Radio team starting with Mike and Mike, Colin Cowherd and Mike Tirico will do a special Super Bowl Sunday shows.

Finally the game will air on FOX and they have a full day planned.

It starts at 9a.m Sunday with a special edition of Fox News Sunday and features Road to the Super Bowl at noon, Inside the rings with Troy Aikman at 1p.m., Howie Long ‘s toughest men in the NFL at 1:30p.m. and then at 2p.m. come the four hour FOX pre game show.

Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee, analysts Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson, reporters Pam Oliver and Chris Myers, comedic prognosticator Frank Caliendo NFL Insider Jay Glazer and Jillian Reynolds from a specially constructed set on the field inside University of Phoenix Stadium . However, the Super Bowl XLII pregame show is anything but traditional as viewers will notice a little more glitz and show-biz than in years past, and a get-out-to-vote message, as well.

Ryan Seacrest, host of FOX’s AMERICAN IDOL, joins the cast of FOX NFL SUNDAY for the biggest day on the sports calendar. He will serve as “entertainment host” for the FOX Super Bowl XLII pregame show.

OK then comes the game followed by of course at least three post game shows on FOX, NFL network and ESPN.

I am exhausted already and we have not gotten to the game.
