Donald Trump may dominating polls, but it’s Ben Carson who can beat Hillary Clinton. Results from Public Policy Polling released Thursday shows that Carson has the best chance of any of the 17 GOP candidates against Clinton. The results show Carson and Clinton tied at 44 percent.
Not only is Carson tied with Clinton, but he comes out ahead of Democratic nominee Bernie Sanders, by 42-36. The results also note that Carson is the only declared candidate with a positive rating. He rates positively at 41 percent with a 30 percent negativity rating.
The candidates who come closest to Clinton would still lose. Clinton has a 46-44 lead against Trump and a 45-43 lead against Fiorina.
That the three non-candidates are polling the best against Clinton is consistent with poll results from Monmouth University.
Of the candidates who have held public office before, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz poll the closest against Clinton, but would still lose. Clinton leads Bush 46-42 and Cruz 47-42.
