Give Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz some applause for sticking to her healthy diet after oh-so-many years. The Florida lawmaker and former Democratic Party boss often shows off her at-home menus on her Instragram.
And on Thursday, she even stuck to it during a meal at Capitol Hill’s Nooshi, the home for noodles and sushi.
Note in the picture from our Eddie Scarry that even the soy sauce is healthily “less salt.” …
- Friends of Faith Whittlesey, credited with harnessing much of former President Reagan’s conservative and religious coalition, are asking for prayers in the wake of the news she has cancer. She is a GOP trailblazer, twice a U.S. ambassador, and an early champion of Donald Trump’s presidential bid. And according to a note from Ed Martin, president of the Phyllis Schlafly Eagles, “Faith has battled cancer for many years now and it’s taken a turn for the worse, I fear. So, pray for her and give her a call if you can.” …

- American Craft Beer Week did not go unnoticed on Capitol Hill, home to a handful of homebrewers including Oregon Democratic Rep. Peter DeFazio, who co-authored a House resolution to promote craft brewing, a $67 billion business. He founded the House Small Brewer’s Caucus and now shares the chairmanship with Reps. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), Richard Neal (D-MA), and Mike Kelly (R-PA). They wrote in their resolution this week: “Our nation’s booming craft brewing industry is not only a vibrant affirmation of the entrepreneurial traditions of the United States, they are a testament to the strength and importance of small businesses,” said the members in a statement. “With small and independent brewers in all fifty states, craft brewers make up a diverse and influential economic engine that provides jobs and supports agriculture and manufacturing across the United States. We’re proud to be the largest bi-partisan caucus in Congress and pledge to continue to promote and protect American craft brewing.”
