Two congresswoman from opposite parties agreed today on the need for for an investigation into reports of Secret Service agents hiring prostitutes in Colombia this week.
“I think we should look into it, but I think believe we should always stand up for American values,” said Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., on CNN this morning. “And one area we have worked together is in combating sex trafficking . . . we have to stand up for our values and the laws of our country.”

A Secret Service unit sent to Colombia in advance of President Obama’s trip this weekend was recalled after at least one agent allegedly refused to pay a prostitute he had hired. Prostitution is legal in Colombia, though not the United States.
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., who serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee, agreed with her Democratic counterpart.
“We need to hold these people to the highest standards — the highest ethical standards,” she said. “And we need to look into exactly what happened and take the appropriate action.”
