The man suspected of shooting Lady Gaga’s dog walker and kidnapping the singer’s dogs has been recaptured four months after being mistakenly released from jail in April.
Police arrested James Howard Jackson on Wednesday, ending a monthslong search after he was released due to a “clerical error,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The U.S. Marshals Service announced a $5,000 reward for information about Jackson’s whereabouts in July, although it’s not clear whether that helped lead to his arrest.

Jackson is one of three people charged with attempted murder and robbery after the group ambushed Ryan Fischer, an employed dog walker for Lady Gaga, and stole two of the singer’s dogs. Jackson is accused of shooting Fischer during that incident.
Fischer was walking two of Lady Gaga’s bulldogs, Koji and Gustav, last February near Sunset Boulevard when he was ambushed by two men who demanded the dogs be handed over. When Fischer refused, he was shot once, and the men fled with the dogs. The singer offered a reward of up to $500,000 for the return of her dogs, and they were recovered shortly after.

Five people were arrested in connection to the incident, with two charged as accessories after the fact. Jackson, along with Jaylin White and Lafayette Whaley, was charged with one count of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, and second-degree robbery.
