Former U.S. special envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker and former National Security Council official Tim Morrison delivered their opening statements before the House Intelligence Committee on day three of the impeachment hearings.
In his statement, Volker acknowledged mishandling Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani’s push for Ukrainian officials to open a politically tinged investigation into an energy company where Joe Biden’s son formerly served on the board.
“In retrospect, I should have seen that connection differently, and had I done so, I would have raised my own objections,” Volker said.
Earlier Tuesday morning, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top Ukraine specialist on the National Security Council, and Jennifer Williams, a foreign service aide detailed to Vice President Mike Pence’s office testified before the committee.
