The City of Las Vegas is discouraging the use of capital letters to support its National Hockey League team, the Golden Knights, as they prepare for the Stanley Cup against the Washington Capitals.
The movement is meant to target the Washington Capitals for imploring their fans on social media with the rallying cry, “#ALLCAPS.”
“[J]ust got off the phone with the great @thebuchananshow and we are going #nocaps for the #stanleycupfinals. we love @goldenknights in @cityoflasvegas so #nocaps just like in this tweet!” Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman said in a tweet Friday.
Since then, all posts from the City of Las Vegas Twitter account have been written in lowercase letters.
In one tweet, the city photoshopped the “Welcome to Las Vegas, Nevada” sign to have lowercase letters. The real sign remains the same.
