Donald Trump, the day after telling Bill O’Reilly that he would participate in the Newsmax debate he is scheduled to moderate, pulled out of the debate in order to reserve the right to run for president as an independent.
“I am not willing to give up my right to run as an Independent candidate,” Trump said today when announcing that he won’t moderate the event.
Just last night, though, Trump told O’Reilly during an interview that he would be in the debate. “Are you going to show up to this debate? Is it going to happen?” O’Reilly asked. “I am going to show up. And maybe we will just have a chat. We might just discuss the world and we will discuss it with ourselves,” Trump answered.
Only Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum agreed to participate in the debate.
