Shaq to launch “Luv Shaq” vodka

Shaquille O’Neal has found a new hobby now that he’s retired from the NBA. As the New York Post reports, O’Neal has plans to launch his own line of vodka early in 2013. The alcohol is cleverly branded “Luv Shaq” and will be produced by Devotion Vodka.

According to the Post, the vodka will come in a coconut flavor, and will also pride itself on being both sugar- and gluten-free. The label of “Luv Shaq” will be tastefully decorated with a picture of a winged Shaq.

Devotion Vodka founder Drew Adelman said  he hopes “Luv Shaq” will prove to be competition for Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’s Ciroc vodka. Vodka connoisseurs will have to wait until next year to see how “Shaq” stacks up against the hip-hop mogul’s drink of choice.

Shaquille O’Neal ended his professional basketball career in 2011 after 19 years in the NBA. He played with a variety of teams throughout his career and spent his final season with the Boston Celtics. He spent the majority of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers between 1996 and 2004.

Like Diddy, Shaq is also a rapper and has released five albums, the first of which – Shaq Diesel – went platinum. Perhaps he’ll give fans a special performance at launch party of his new liquor.
