The National Republican Congressional Committee Tuesday expanded its 2022 midterm elections target list by adding 10 Democrats to its roster of vulnerable lawmakers.
HOUSE DEMOCRATIC DEPARTURES THREATEN PARTY HOLD ON MAJORITY
California Reps. Ami Bera, Jim Costa, and Raul Ruiz, Illinois Rep. Marie Newman, Michigan Rep. Dan Kildee, New York Reps. Kathleen Rice, Paul Tonko, Joe Morelle, Brian Higgins, and Pennsylvania Rep. Chrissy Houlahan will join 47 other House Democrats whose districts are targeted for pickups.
The House Republican campaign arm’s announcement comes in the wake of census numbers released last week, and each lawmaker is from a state that is losing a congressional seat.
“Republicans are on offense all across the country,” said NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer in a statement. “Every House Democrat is facing an uphill battle having to defend their toxic socialist agenda that prioritizes trillion-dollar tax hikes on the middle class, opens our borders, closes our schools and defunds the police.”

Republicans had the House majority for eight years until Democrats took control of the lower chamber in 2018 during a midterm election “blue wave” under former President Donald Trump, but House Republicans came back and unexpectedly won over a dozen seats in 2020. They now need only five seats to take back the majority in 2022.
