President Obama will appear next week in Jerry Seinfeld’s online comedy series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”
Seinfeld, the comedian behind the “Seinfeld” television show, shot the episode at the White House earlier in December. Episodes are unscripted and typically feature a guest comedian, driving with Seinfeld in a vintage car to get coffee at a pre-selected restaurant.
Instead of driving the presidential state car, also known as “The Beast,” the two took turns driving a 1963 Corvette Stingray Split Window Coupe.
After taking the coupe for a spin, the Obama and Seinfeld stepped into the White House and discussed life over a hot cup of joe, according to a statement released by Crackle, Sony’s free streaming network that streams the show.
“Growing up in the ’60s my kid dream was always to be an astronaut — doing a comedy show with President Obama in and around the White House felt like going into space,” said Seinfeld in the statement.
“‘How did I get here?’ ‘Is this really happening?’ The president’s humor and generosity are the only reasons this was even possible. He was so easy and fun to be with. Being president and just a cool guy to hang out with at the same time made the experience my own personal moonwalk. It was an unforgettable day,” Seinfeld said.
The episode with the president will premiere on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 11:30 p.m. ET.
This isn’t the first time Obama taped a guest-starred appearance in a television program. Last Thursday, the president appeared in the survivalist reality show “Running Wild with Bear Grylls.” He filmed the episode in September, during a trip to Alaska to highlight the effects of climate change on the Arctic.
