Trump nominates four administration officials, including VA, EPA

President Trump nominated four additional members to his administration, including a top official at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the White House announced Friday evening.

Trump promoted current Veterans Affairs senior adviser Brooks Tucker to assistant secretary of congressional and legislative affairs. Tucker also served as policy adviser during Trump’s transition team as well as senior policy adviser for national security and veterans’ affairs for Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C. The retired lieutenant colonel and infantry officer in the Marines worked as an investment adviser for Deutsche Bank and Merrill Lynch before pivoting to politics.

Susan Park Bodine was tapped for assistant administrator of enforcement and compliance assurance at the Environmental Protection Agency. Bodine recently worked as chief counsel for the Senate environment and public works committee but has nearly three decades experience in both the private and public sectors of environmental law. Bodine comes to the position having served as assistant administrator of the EPA’s Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response during George W. Bush’s administration

Trump selected James Sullivan Jr. for an open slot on the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Sullivan worked as a partner for Buchanan Ingersoll and Rooney, as well as Pepper, Klett Rooney, where he represented employees in labor, employment and occupational safety issues.

Founder and CEO of Saeculum Capital Management LLC, Brian Quintenz, will be the newest member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Quintenz’s five-year term will end in April 2020. He worked in the private sector for Rose International and Hill-Townsend Capital LLC prior to being picked.
