Ryan Zinke allows Interior employees to take off 59 minutes early for Easter weekend

Employees at the Interior Department were treated to a slightly shorter workday on Good Friday, courtesy of Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, according to a report.

An internal email obtained by Motherboard shows that Zinke allowed his employees to take off for Easter weekend 59 minutes early.

“A small token of our appreciation for all you do to support the American public… Employees working Friday may leave 59 minutes earlier than their normal departure time,” said the email that Motherboard reported it received from a DOI employee.

The source reportedly could not remember another instance in which the department allowed time off for a non-federal holiday.

According to agency policy, any amount of time taken off greater than 59 minutes would be considered administrative leave, the report says.
