Biden: Bill Clinton’s past ‘shouldn’t matter’ in campaign

Vice President Joe Biden declared that former President Bill Clinton’s infidelities should not matter in the ongoing presidential campaign, arguing that the husband of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “paid a price” for what he did, pointing to him being impeached in 1998.

In a clip from an interview set to air on “Meet The Press,” Biden told host Chuck Todd that he “can’t make any excuse” for what Clinton has done in the past, adding that the former president has “acknowledged” that he’s been a “sexual predator.”

“No, it shouldn’t matter,” Biden told the NBC host. “Look, I can’t make any excuse for Bill Clinton’s conduct … and I wouldn’t attempt to make any excuses for the conduct. But he paid a price for it. He paid a price. He was impeached. And he was — he expressed his deep sorrow and acknowledged what he did.”

“This guy, as I said, has acknowledged that he has been a sexual predator,” Biden said. “He’s acknowledged that he’s abused his power. And the — as I said, the textbook definition of what constitutes sexual assault.”

The comments come only days after Donald Trump brought four accusers of the former president as his guests to the second presidential debate and raised them as an issue in the debate after attacks were levied against him after the release of a video showing him making lewd remarks about women.
