RICHMOND — Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell will lead a trade mission in May to Japan, China and Korea in May.
The announcement came Tuesday during a press conference with South Korean Ambassador Han Duck-Soo that highlighted a reciprocity agreement between Virginia and Korea.
Under the agreement, South Korea can issue drivers’ licenses to Virginia citizens living in the country without making the licensee repeat knowledge and road skills testing.
The same is true of Korean citizens who live in Virginia. The state also has such agreements with Germany and France.
The draft itinerary for McDonnell, who is scheduled to be joined by Secretary of Commerce Jim Cheng and other state officials, is as follows:
May 7 Tokyo, Japan
May 10 Shanghai, China
May 12 Beijing, China
May 15 Seoul, South Korea
May 17 Depart for Virginia
McDonnell traveled to the Netherlands, Britain and Germany on a business trip last July.
