Karen Fruscello, president of the teachers’ union in Syracuse, N.Y., discovered that one of the union’s officers was visiting porn sites on an office computer. But get this: Instead of punishing the employee, the union suspended the president (with pay) for what it claims was an improper forensic audit.
The acting union president claims Fruscello violated due process with her audit. But according to union watchdog Mike Antonucci, the union suspended Fruscello without due process. “[Union] bylaws do not authorize the actions the board has taken,” he writes.
So why would the officers suspend the president rather than their salacious colleague? Apparently the union’s president and its officers don’t get along very well.
