Rep. Peter King: Reince Priebus kept a ‘poker face’ on flight before Trump announced new chief of staff

Rep. Peter King, who traveled with President Trump for his speech Friday on Long Island, said former chief of staff Reince Priebus showed no signs he was being replaced in his job.

“We didn’t even know it. We were sitting right across from him and he kept a poker face,” said King, R-N.Y., referring to Priebus, according to the White House pool report.

Asked what Priebus said during the flight, King repeated: “Good poker face, showed nothing.”

Trump announced on Twitter that he had picked John Kelly, the secretary of Homeland Security, to be his new chief of staff.

Kelly, a former Marine general, replaces Priebus, who served for six months since the inauguration and was said to be on the outs.

According to reports, Priebus resigned quietly Thursday, but Trump told Priebus two weeks ago he would be replacing him.
