Donald Trump Jr. would ‘love to’ run for NYC mayor

As long as his father makes it to the White House, Donald Trump Jr. may be the next Trump family member to launch a career in politics.

Trump, who delivered a passionate speech about his father’s presidential aspirations at the Republican National Convention last week, has since faced calls for him to run for mayor of New York City. During an interview Sunday with CNN’s Jake Tapper, the eldest son of the Republican presidential nominee admitted he’s keeping his options open.

”Listen, I had a good time up there,” Trump said of his convention speech. “It was exciting to be able to have a platform like that to speak my voice because as you can hear from this interview, I’m frustrated with what’s going on in this country and if I can do that one day [run for mayor], I’d love to be able to do it for the people of this country.”

“If that’s how I can pay back and give something back I’d love to do it,” he repeated. “I never like to rule anything out. As my father has always said, we always like to keep our options open.”

For now, however, Trump said he’s “more concerned” with helping his father defeat Hillary Clinton “because I know he’ll do a wonderful job and fight for the people.”

“I want my father to win. I know he can fix this country and take care of the people that need to be taken care of for a change [and] I think we will do a great job,” Trump said. “My 100 percent focus is on November.”
