Elizabeth Warren to campaign with Clinton in Ohio

Progressive Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren will campaign alongside Hillary Clinton in Ohio on Monday at a campaign event in Cincinnati.

Warren just endorsed the former secretary of state last week after Clinton won the final primary contest in Washington, D.C., but is already being vetted by the Clinton campaign as a potential running mate.

Although the presumptive Democratic nominee will not comment on her running mate selection, she has often praised Warren’s actions in the Senate, and has said she would be open to an all-female Democratic ticket.

In turn, Warren sent out her first fundraising email for the Clinton campaign Tuesday night, asking supporters for $1 donations. The progressive senator called Clinton both a “progressive” and a “fighter” in the email.

Warren’s endorsement could help Clinton unify the Democratic Party, as many Bernie Sanders supporters claim that Clinton isn’t progressive enough of a politician.

In Cincinnati, Clinton and Warren will “discuss their shared commitment to building an America that is stronger together and an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top,” according to an official release from the campaign. This will be Clinton’s first stop in Cincinnati during the 2016 election cycle.

RNC spokesman Michael Short called Warren’s appearance on the campaign trail “one of the biggest sellouts in political history given that Hillary Clinton is everything Elizabeth Warren supposedly stands against.”

“Watching Elizabeth Warren defend Hillary Clinton’s refusal to turn over her Wall Street speech transcripts will be as priceless as the accounts of her attending fundraisers with the same hedge fund managers she built a career demonizing,” he said.
