Jenna Bush had a surprise guest at Border’s on 14th Street on Thursday for her last area book signing: her mom.
Without much fanfare — or much advance notice, judging by the reaction of the staff — first lady Laura Bush “just came quietly walking in,” said a Yeas & Nays spy on the scene.
“She was very sweet and low-key,” said the source, even spending time wandering around the bookstore (a little last-minute Christmas shopping, perhaps?).
As for Jenna, she got the usual warm reception as she signed copies of “Ana’s Story,” her nonfiction debut aimed at young adults. Some customers, apparently looking for stocking stuffers of their own, made off with armfuls of signed copies.
