Jeff Zucker faces new accusations of ethics violations

Three dozen inside sources from Jeff Zucker’s previous workplaces have come forward to allege longtime abuses of power and ethics violations.

Some came forward publicly in a report, while others contributed to it anonymously. Altogether, they paint a picture of the former CNN CEO having intimate and inappropriate relationships with employees and political figures alike.

Email and text records unearthed following an investigation into former anchor Chris Cuomo revealed that Zucker and former CNN marketing chief Allison Gollust maintained an intimate relationship with former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. At one point, following a last-minute CNN appearance, Gollust texted the governor: “Well done … Cuomo-W. Trump-L.”

CNN ANNOUNCES REPLACEMENT FOR JEFF ZUCKER

FormerToday executive producer Tom Touchet alleged that he was ultimately fired over his treatment of Donald Trump during an interview with Matt Lauer. At the time, Zucker was the president of NBC Entertainment and in the room when Trump was upset at Lauer pressing him on the declining ratings of The Apprentice. Touchet claims Zucker pulled him aside and told him, “You’re f***ing fired.”

Several sources went on to say that Gollust and Zucker had a personal relationship long before they began working at CNN. If the allegations are true, that means Zucker was violating the network’s policy just by hiring Gollust.

“To avoid a conflict of interest, employees must not hire or supervise (directly or indirectly) someone with whom they have a personal relationship, and if you are in a position to influence the employment, advancement, or hiring of someone with whom you have a personal relationship … you must inform the HR department in advance of taking any action,” CNN’s code of conduct reads.

“Weird,” podcaster Stephen Miller tweeted Friday. “How did [Brian Stelter] & [Oliver Darcy] miss this one?”

“I personally am uninterested in the consensual relationship between two adults — at CNN or wherever,” reporter Glenn Greenwald tweeted. “But the emails showing how Zucker and top deputies explicitly manipulated the news and interviews by top hosts to help Cuomo shows the depths of journalistic corruption at CNN.”
