Vellano only Terp on All-ACC first team

Three from Virginia, two from Virginia Tech on first team

Junior defensive tackle Joe Vellano was the lone player from Maryland to make the All-ACC football first or second team. Junior linebacker Demetrius Hartsfield was the lone Terp named honorable mention.

Vellano (68) was the leading vote-getter among defensive tackles. Virginia senior Matt Conrath (55) joined Vellano on the first team. Virginia senior guard Austin Pasztor (49) and senior cornerback Chase Minnifield (47) also made the first team. The Cavaliers placed junior offensive tackle Oday Aboushi (43) and sophomore linebacker Steve Greer (23) on the second team.

Coastal Division champion Virginia Tech put two players on the first team — junior running back David Wilson, a unanimous choice with 90 votes, and senior tackle Blake DeChristopher (86), who had 37 more votes than any offensive lineman.

On the second team from Tech are sophomore quarterback Logan Thomas (49), senior guard Jaymes Brooks (35), sophomore defensive end James Gayle (25), junior cornerback Jayron Hosley (36), sophomore cornerback Kyle Fuller (34), and senior safety Eddie Whitley (33).

Sophomore defensive end J.R. Collins, sophomore safety Antone Exum, sophomore kicker Cody Journell, senior guard Greg Nosal, and junior linebacker Bruce Taylor made honorable mention along with Virginia senior safety Rodney McLeod, junior running back Perry Jones, senior center Anthony Mihota,.

Clemson had the most players on the first team with five, followed by North Carolina (three), Florida State (three), and Virginia (three).

Coach of the Year and other individual ACC honors will be announced on Tuesday.
