Kellyanne Conway swats at ‘high horse cavalry,’ says she starts her workday in prayer

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway told social conservatives Friday that she begins work every day with a prayer before becoming enveloped in “a dizzying pace of meetings.”

Conway participated in a discussion with Family Research Council leader Tony Perkins at the Values Voter Summit following President Trump’s address to the annual gathering.

The counselor to the president criticized what she called “the high-horse cavalry” that hypocritically talks about treating women equally, which she said Trump actually does with a legacy of equitable job promotions.

Conway briefly referenced the ongoing scandal involving sexual assault allegations against Democratic donor and film producer Harvey Weinstein.

“I work in a workplace where working moms and certainly women are respected,” she said, without addressing historical sexual misconduct allegations against Trump, which the president has denied.

Conway, one of Trump’s most prominent advisers to remain on the job following a series of summer firings and resignations, said most of her day is spent in policy meetings.

“Wisdom is found through a multitude of advisers,” Conway said, before describing significant elements of her workload.

“I’m there to support the press and comms shops,” she said. “I spend about 3-5 percent of my time engaging with media and on TV.”

Continuing, she said, “I probably spend 10 percent of my day, which is a lot, on the opioid issue. … It is the scourge of our times, it is the epidemic next door.”

Conway said that one of the best decisions she’s made is turning off Twitter notifications, saying it “changed my life.”

The former pollster encouraged the crowd to remain a grassroots support base for Trump and to bring to the government’s attention people in need.

Veering to commentary informed by her past career, she said, “To attract people politically you must first understand them culturally — show me how someone spends his or her weekend, I’ll tell you how they vote.”
