Trump insists on carriage ride with Queen during Buckingham Palace visit

The White House insisted President Trump receive a carriage ride with the Queen during his visit to the United Kingdom this fall, the Times of London reports.

Although many world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping have taken a traditional stroll in the Queen’s carriage, former President Barack Obama chose to ride in his armored vehicle while visiting Buckingham palace. London police are anticipating a large turnout and told the Times that the ride will be a security “monster.”

Security sources have also reported that even though they are able to add bullet-proof glass to the carriage, it is still extremely susceptible to an attack.

“If he’s in that vehicle he is incredibly well protected and on top of that it can travel an enormous speed, the source said in regards to the president’s armored vehicle. “If he is in a golden coach being dragged up the Mall by a couple of horses, the risk factor is dramatically increased.”

Although the ride is yet to be confirmed, the London Police department plans to coordinate with the Secret Service to secure the area for the president’s ride.

A White House spokesperson later told the Washington Examiner that the report is untrue.
