A nonprofit farm in Prince George’s County has been selected to receive a community fruit orchard. ECO City Farms in the town of Edmonston is getting the gift from Communities Take Root, a program started by the Edy’s Fruit Bars brand, in partnership with the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, a nonprofit that provides the trees for the recipients, bringing fresh fruit to deserving neighborhoods. In announcing the selection, ECO City Farms was called a prototype for sustainable local farming.
