An average president
Ask the supporters of Barack Obama: He’s a superstar. A rock star. Out of this world-ly.
He’s anything but average.
Well, there’s something to that. Ian Randal Strock’s new book, “The Presidential Book of Lists,” looks at the United States’ 43 presidents and determines what our “average president” might be like. How does Obama match up?
The average president is 5 feet 6 inches tall. (Obama is 6 foot 1.)
Has a better than one in four chance of being named James or John. (Sorry, Barack.)
Has a better than one in three chance of having been born in Virginia or Ohio. (Obama was born in Hawaii.)
Has 3.7 children. (Obama and Michelle have two daughters.)
He is five years, 316 days older than his wife. (Barack is 2 1/2 years older than Michelle.)
Has a 50 percent chance of being a lawyer. (Check.)
Has a 50 percent chance of having served in a state legislature. (Check.)
Has a 36 percent change of having been a senator. (Check.)
Has a 29 percent chance of having attended Harvard or Yale. (Check.)
