FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — The Frederick County school board and teachers association say they’ve tentatively agreed on a contract for the upcoming school year.
The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/M0D007 ) reported Friday that the board sweetened an offer that was soundly rejected by rank-and-file teachers last month.
The new proposal advances to Oct. 15 from Dec. 1 the effective date of a step increase.
It would also give teachers a one-time payment from any salary savings derived from teacher attrition, provided that those dollars aren’t needed to balance next year’s budget or fund budget shortfalls this year.
Teachers have until Aug. 8 to vote on the proposal.
